Fectar integrates Ultraleap hand tracking into its VR & AR content creation platform

In Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality News

March 31, 2023 – Fectar, a provider of a content management system for virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR) in education and enterprise training, and Ultraleap, a provider of extended reality (XR) technologies such as hand tracking and mid-air haptics, have recently announced the integration of Ultraleap’s hand tracking functionality within the Fectar platform.

Fectar develops and maintains a content creation and publishing platform that is aimed at non-technical users. Users build a scene in the platform and are able to publish it across multiple compatible devices, including mobile, VR, web or AR glasses. In this case, hand tracking features are compatible with any XR device that features Ultraleap hand tracking – including the Pico Neo 3 Pro with added hand tracking accessory. The Fectar App, which is where people can find and share VR/AR experiences, has been downloaded over 6 million times, according to the companies.

With the new integration, Fectar’s customers will now be able to create and share interactive environments and build VR training experiences that feature hand tracking functionality, rather than relying on VR controllers.

Ultraleap stated that high quality hand tracking interaction is important to VR training applications as it’s an intuitive tool people instinctively know how to use. It can help to positively affect training outcomes, reduce the effort of adoption, and make applications more accessible. It can also help users to develop real muscle memory for long-term recall by enabling them to do something almost exactly as they would in the real world.

Rens Lensvelt, CTO and Founder of Fectar, said: “We want our customers to be able to create world-class VR training experiences. By introducing Ultraleap hand tracking to our platform we’re giving them an opportunity to level up their programmes by adding an intuitive interaction method.”

Matt Tullis, VP of XR at Ultraleap, said: “The combination of Ultraleap and Fectar provides people with the right tools they need to develop the best education or training programmes – and makes it easy to do so. We already know that enterprise VR programmes improve productivity by 32%. By making that experience even more natural with hand tracking, Fectar customers can expect to see their VR training ROI increase even further.”
