Arvizio announces integration of Autodesk BIM 360 with its enterprise XR Platform

June 30, 2020 – Arvizio has today announced the integration of Autodesk BIM 360 with its enterprise XR Platform. The integration allows users to import models from BIM 360 into Arvizio XR Director for multi-user shared experiences using Microsoft HoloLens, Magic Leap One and mobile AR devices.

Part of the Autodesk Construction Cloud portfolio of software and services, BIM 360 is cloud-based construction management software for Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) teams to collaborate on projects. Arvizio’s integration with BIM 360, which supports more than 50 3D-data formats, allows 3D models to be securely imported, optimized and visualized in augmented reality (AR) and mixed reality (MR) environments. According to Arvizio, a key benefit of AR and MR is the ability to align and review designs whilst on location, whereas virtual reality solutions are limited to off-sight reviews.

AEC firms rely on BIM 360 to store massive 3D models that can be difficult to render on MR headsets and mobile AR devices. As a result, models imported into the Arvizio platform employ the company’s optimization tools and hybrid rendering capabilities in order to stream and visualize large 3D models on headsets, as well as on tablets and smartphones. Using Arvizio’s multi-user visualization tools, session participants in different locations can conduct fully synchronized collaborative meetings while interacting with massive 3D models. Users are able to walk through life-size versions, align models with the physical world, and mark them up using a variety of devices without the need to send individual files.

“The AEC industry increasingly wants to use augmented and mixed reality in all phases of their projects – from design and proof of concept, to final construction,” said Alex Berlin, President and COO at Arvizio.  “We are delighted to partner with Autodesk Construction Cloud and pleased to offer seamless integration with BIM 360 in our augmented reality platform. Our customers can now expand their ability to visualize massive 3D models and conduct real-time, multi-user, multi-location design and construction reviews complete with audio and avatar representation.”

James Cook, Head of Integrations for Autodesk Construction Solutions, commented: “Innovative contractors are always looking to do more with the models they trust to BIM 360, particularly as remote collaboration increases.” He added, “Arvizio’s integration will help our customers leverage augmented and mixed reality to streamline collaboration and decision making.”

The BIM 360 integration with Arvizio leverages Autodesk Forge APIs to seamlessly convert and import models created with design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Inventor, Navisworks and others, into Arvizio’s XR Platform for optimization and visualization on head mounted displays and mobile AR devices.
