Augmented Reality startup AiR Everywhere announces its ‘Stay Home Giveaway’

In Augmented Reality News

April 22, 2020 – Augmented reality startup, AiR Everywhere, has announced its ‘Stay Home Giveaway’. Starting April 27, the company will launch a 5 day promotion that will give away thousands of rewards purchased from local businesses in Kent, Ohio, US, to Kent State University (KSU) students and Kent residents who check-in from home on the app. The Grand Prize is a 24 month lease on a 2020 Honda Civic LX Sedan.

AiR Everywhere is an augmented reality mobile software development firm and was founded in 2017 by KSU Alumni. The company is technically still operating in stealth mode, so details about its primary project remain a secret for now, although announcements on what the project entails are expected soon.

Commenting on the announcement, AiR Everywhere CEO, Derek Spencer, said: “When we raised millions of dollars to build an app that encourages people to visit local businesses and explore their city; we never anticipated a global pandemic.” Spencer added, “Worrying about our business model while comfortably working from home quickly began to seem self-indulgent when compared to how the [coronavirus] crisis was affecting our community. We knew that we had to do something to help. Rewarding people for staying home, the social distancing behavior that will inevitably get us out of this mess, felt like the best way to serve our community. Supporting small businesses at the same time makes it even better!”

AiR Everywhere purchased several rewards to give away as part of the promotion, including food and drinks from local restaurants, movie tickets, fitness classes, as well as four USD $500 Scholarships and the above mentioned vehicle lease.

The AiR Everywhere Stay Home Giveaway app is currently in the approval process for both the Apple App Store and Google Play store, but those interested can sign up here to be notified when the app becomes available for download.

UPDATE: As of April 26, 2020 – AiR Everywhere has stated that due a significant delay in the Apple App Store approval process, most likely as a result of disruption to normal business operations caused by COVID-19, the company is still awaiting approval for its app. AiR Everywhere stated that pre-pandemic, this approval process typically took 24 hours, but the Stay Home Giveaway app has now been awaiting approval for 168 hours from Apple. The app has however been published successfully to the Google Play Store, but the company states that the vast majority of its waiting list members have Apple devices. Therefore, AiR Everywhere has made the decision to postpone its Giveaway until a later date, adding that if it is unable to launch before stay home orders are  lifted, then it will use all of the prizes already purchased in another giveaway.
