October 7, 2019 – EON Reality Inc. has announced that a VR Innovation Academy (VRIA) is being established in Kyoto, Japan through a partnership with SUS Co., Ltd. and its new subsidiary, Cross Reality Co., Ltd.

The VR Innovation Academy will help develop capability and capacity in the field of Augmented and Virtual Reality (AVR) solutions to the Kansai region — the second largest economic region of Japan with a regional GDP of approximately USD $1 trillion, according to EON Reality.

Dan Lejerskar, Founder of EON Reality, said: “We are proud to be able to bring the VR Innovation Academy to Kyoto. This facility will be able to play a crucial role in transforming skills needed in academia as well as the various industries across the Kansai region. We see a significant opportunity both in Kyoto and the wider area for our AVR solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness of local businesses and schools.”

EON Reality states that the VR Innovation Academy will conduct educational training programs led by international AVR experts, and will provide access for local businesses and entrepreneurs to implement effective AVR solutions. The VRIA will also offer opportunities for local colleges and universities to get access to the latest AVR solutions for both academic and vocational training.

Kimio Saito, CEO of SUS Co., Ltd. and Cross Reality Co., Ltd., commented: “We are extremely honored to announce [the launch of] the VR Innovation Academy in Kyoto with EON Reality, the world leader in the AVR-based knowledge transfer for industry and education and Sanko Gakuen, the expert in domestic educational business, which will have also high affinity with our business objective of developing human resources capable of the Industry 4.0 revolution.”

Saito added: “We are looking forward to expanding our business fields, not only developing engineers capable of AVR but also providing a complete AVR platform of software, systems and applications for the industry and education markets as one of the authorized distributors of EON Reality in Japan, which will also contribute as a prompt solution for both serious shortage of workers and development of the next generation in Japan.”

EON Reality stated that when the VRIA launches in Spring 2020, it is expected to have full cooperation from industry, government, and academia for the entire Kyoto Prefecture.
