Manus VR unveils its Polygon Virtual Reality solution for multi-user collaboration

In Virtual Reality News

March 25, 2020 – Manus VR has unveiled its latest product, Polygon, a full-body VR solution that comes with multi-user collaboration possibilities. Polygon uses 5 Vive trackers to generate natural body movements in VR. The solution is further enhanced thanks to the Manus gloves, which provide finger tracking, and help to integrate a users’ body movements for a more immersive experience.

The footage displayed above demonstrates the real-time retargeting of Manus Polygon, without any post-recording edits.

Over the years, Manus has worked on the development of data gloves, and after the successful release of its Prime series last year, is aiming to raise the bar in immersive technology development with the release of Polygon. The company states that Polygon is suitable for a variety of applications, including VR experiences, training and simulation, and virtual collaboration.

One of the key attributes of Polygon is the possibility for the user to self-calibrate, without any intervention from outside the VR experience. With the requirement of only 5 Vive trackers, setting up hardware is simple, and allows users to easily step into Polygon. Tracker assignment is done automatically during calibration. The Polygon IK-system reads the movement of the Vive trackers and calculates the natural body movement of the user.

Polygon comes with multi-user support, either locally or via an existing network. This makes it possible for Polygon users to connect with each other and share their virtual workspace. The multi-user system works by having a single user act as a host who runs the simulation, but is able to allow guests to join the environment.

One essential feature of Polygon is its networked object tracking. This feature enables all users to see object locations in real time, even when the object is being used by another user.

Manus VR states that its Polygon solution will be released in June 2020.
