Ordnance Survey goes to tender for Augmented Reality geolocation-based game for GBP £1m

In Augmented Reality News

January 22, 2020 – Ordnance Survey Ltd., Great Britain’s national mapping agency, has gone to tender for the creation of a series of geolocated quests, challenges and special events, that use augmented reality to enhance engagement with the outside.

The company states that: “The western world has an activity crisis. People are not being active outside half as much as they should be.” Ordnance Survey aims to address this by helping people connect with the natural environment through AR gaming, and is therefore looking for a Game Designer and/or Animator to help shape its game concept and bring it to life. Using its own geospatial expertise and the successful bidder’s gaming knowledge, Ordnance Survey believes that it can create a unique and disruptive end-product that will encourage people to get outside more often.

The AR game will likely form part of Ordnance Survey’s ‘GetOutside‘ campaign, which it states is “for everyone, just as the outdoors is for everyone” and will help people discover the best Britain has to offer and the benefits that outdoor activity can bring.

The total value of the contract is GBP £1,000,000, and is set to last a duration of three years. The deadline for the receipt of tenders from interested bidders is February 13, 2020 at 5:00pm (GMT). For more information on how to submit a bid, please email contact@auganix.org.
