October 23, 2020 – Oakmont Senior Living, a provider of retirement living, has this week announced that it has rolled out Rendever’s virtual reality (VR) platform for seniors at its Oakmont of East Sacramento community.
Rendever’s platform enables residents to overcome social isolation through the power of VR and shared experiences. From checking off bucket list items to engaging with the world, the platform allows residents to virtually travel beyond the four walls of their community. Through the VR experiences offered by Rendever, residents can revisit significant places from their past, tour famous landmarks, and stay connected with family members among other immersive activities.
To maintain social connection, seniors can share synchronous VR experiences together. Furthermore, family members can also upload personal photos, videos, and 360° footage of events to share with their loved ones at the senior living community, further helping to ease the difficulty of social isolation.
“Social isolation can cause a whole host of physical and mental health consequences, so we believe that it is absolutely critical to offer residents a wide variety of engaging activities,” said Rina Younan, Vice President of Program Development at Oakmont Management Group. “Rendever is the perfect platform because it opens up a world of possibilities. They can travel to places they never thought possible, stay up to date with family events, and share experiences like camel riding or sky diving together. It is so special to see them having fun and bonding with each other.”
Rendever stated that Oakmont Senior Living is the newest group to join its growing community of over 200 senior living communities across North America.

Rendever also announced last month that its platform was being utilized by Tidewell Hospice to enhance care programs and provide patients relief from pain and social isolation.
The Tidewell Foundation, Inc., received a pair of grants that assisted with the purchase of equipment and accessories. As a result, Tidewell clinical staff members trained to use VR headsets in the home, assisted-living, long-term care and hospice house settings, which serve more than 1,100 patients daily in Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte and DeSoto counties.
