January 16, 2020 – Rokid announced yesterday at the 2020 Rokid Open Day in Hangzhou, China, that after months of preparation, it is unveiling its Rokid Glass 2 augmented reality glasses.
Equipped with an in-house voice operating system, Rokid Glass 2 fuses AI and AR to power interactive experiences. Rokid states that its new glasses, which operate on the Android platform, have applications for purposes such as training, configuration & maintenance, power inspection, and logistics & warehousing, to name but a few.
Rokid Glass 2 represents major upgrades, the most notable of which being that the arms of the glasses can now be folded and put away just like a pair of ordinary glasses, only they also include an AR display thanks to the glasses’ low-power LCOS display screen. Rokid states that the glasses are comfortable for users, even after continuous wearing for several hours, thanks to their lightweight design, weighing just 90g.
For power, Rokid Glass 2 comes with a built-in 10,000 mAh battery that allows up to 8 hours of use on a single charge, according to the company. Other features of the AR glasses include:
- Monocular display that offers 40° field of view (FoV) and resolution of 1280×720;
- 9 axis IMU sensor;
- 8 megapixel autofocus camera;
- Dual microphone active noise reduction;
- Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11 ac connectivity;
- 4G and GPS support;
- USB Type-C input.
Rokid states that the Rokid Glass 2 will be ready for mass-production by Q2 2020. Likewise, the glasses will also be launched in the second quarter of 2020, although the company has not yet specified an exact date.
