Samsung launches Galaxy Note7 and announces a new edition of its Gear VR headset

August 19, 2016 – Samsung Electronics America, Inc. today launched its new Galaxy Note7, as well as five additional new products in its mobile portfolio. The device powers a variety of new products, one of which being the new Samsung Gear VR powered by Oculus, where users can explore and create 360 and virtual reality content.

“Simply put, the Galaxy Note7 is the best phone we’ve ever built, and it’s made even better by the ecosystem of Samsung devices that support and enhance it,” said Tim Baxter, President, Samsung Electronics America. “Powered by Note7, Samsung is making it easier than ever to explore your interests and pursue your passions. Users can create and explore new VR worlds, stay fit and connected on the go with new wireless headphones.”

In the U.S., the Galaxy Note7 is available in Blue Coral, Silver Titanium and Black Onyx. AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular and Verizon Wireless will carry the Galaxy Note7 in stores beginning today.

In concert with the Note7 launch, Samsung is debuting a new edition of its Gear VR headset. Compatible with many of the latest Galaxy phones, including Note7, Galaxy S7 and more, Gear VR allows users to explore virtual reality content. With a redesigned look in a blue-black color and an expanded field of view, the Note7 will enable Gear VR users to immerse themselves in a variety of VR experiences.

The Note7 also pairs with the Gear 360, Samsung’s high-resolution (3840 X 1920) 360-degree camera. Gear 360 lets users create 360-degree images and videos while on the go, all via the latest Galaxy smartphones. Users can share their content directly to social networks or Samsung VR – the company’s virtual reality service.
