December 13, 2022 – StretchSense, a provider of high-precision motion capture (MoCap) technology for the gaming and animation sectors, has announced the appointment of Chris Simard as Chief Revenue Officer, to help further accelerate the company’s position in the motion capture market and drive its penetration into the enterprise virtual reality (VR) and metaverse space.

StretchSense highlighted that due to shorter careers with increased complexity, businesses are facing issues of needing to train employees at a faster rate in time- and safety-critical situations where there is money or safety at stake. The company plans to solve this training need by developing new solutions via its MoCap glove, which it stated will allow enterprises to safely and efficiently train employees hands-on in the metaverse.

“The StretchSense team has done an incredible job solidifying themselves as a pioneer in the MoCap/VR space and I am looking forward to supporting their global growth,” said Simard. “Together we will be providing greater value for our game and VFX studios by cost-efficiently increasing their delivery of higher quality content, as well as enabling enterprise companies to achieve safer and more efficient high-tech training environments through the power of VR solutions.”

Stepping into the role as CRO for StretchSense, Simard will support the company in its efforts to continue its global expansion, including a larger United States-based team, as well as build relationships within the VR/AR industry as StretchSense aims to become a key provider within the market.

“We are super excited to welcome Chris on the StretchSense business as we journey towards evermore natural and immersive virtual worlds,” added StretchSense CEO and Founder, Ben O’Brien. “His years of go-to-market experience are the perfect complement to our leadership team and he is already driving incredible positive change in the business.”

StretchSense stated that Simard joins the company with a wealth of experience serving a variety of customers and establishing their technological infrastructure. Simard has worked at APC and Schneider Electric in enterprise leadership positions. In his most recent position before joining StretchSense he served as Vice President of Commercial Operations at Ice Gen Corp.

StretchSense recently finalized a USD $7.6 million Series A capital raise led by Scotland-based Par Equity, with participation by existing StretchSense investors GD1, the NZ-based venture capital firm, and Scottish Enterprise, Scotland’s national economic development agency. The company stated that the recent investment will help to accelerate StretchSense’s global expansion plans in developing new sensor technology that enables high-precision tracking in emerging applications.
