July 12, 2019 – Vuzix Corporation has today announced the support of a series of peer-to-peer video calling apps on the Vuzix Blade Smart Glasses including Facebook Messenger Lite, WhatsApp and IMO.

Paul Travers, President and Chief Executive Officer at Vuzix, said: “The enablement of hands-free peer-to-peer video calling to connect families, friends and businesses is a powerful application for consumers and businesses alike. These peer-to-peer video calling apps utilize the built-in camera and microphone on the Vuzix Blade Smart Glasses to live-stream video and audio out, while the Blade user sees the feed from the user’s camera on the other end, whether it’s coming from a phone, tablet, PC or Blade.”

Travers added: “These video calling applications on the Vuzix Blade create new opportunities to connect families, friends and businesses, ranging from virtually attending family functions and live performances to performing repairs at home or the office; all delivered hands-free.”

Vuzix has been expanding the compatibility of its Blade Smart Glasses with various apps recently, with the company announcing last week support for more than 45 applications that run natively on the Blade.
