WEARVR signs new partnership deal with Pimax

In Virtual Reality News

June 14, 2019 – WEARVR has announced a new partnership with Pimax. Pimax will be added to the existing list of compatible VR devices, as well as promoted to WEARVR developers, as a new device to port their content to. Developers will be able to sell their Pimax games through the WEARVR store in the near future.

This latest agreement adds to the growing number of opportunities WEARVR is bringing to the VR developer community. WEARVR now has over 7,000 registered developers on the platform and their aim is to enable developers to sell their games and experiences for as many headsets as possible.

“We’ve been speaking with Pimax for some time. Their new 8K headset does not disappoint – we were blown away by the high resolution”, said WEARVR COO, Andrew Douthwaite. “To add a new PC-based VR headset to WEARVR is a great achievement for us and it will enable our community to share their Pimax projects, monetise these apps and get technical support from us.”

Pimax VR is dedicated to providing PC VR devices with high resolution and large field of view. Their 8K VR headset raised over USD $4.2 million on Kickstarter, making it the most successfully crowdfunded VR headset ever. As well as Pimax’ 8K headset, the company also sells 4K and 5K versions, all of which can be developed for using the Pimax SDK, which will be available on the WEARVR Developer Centre in the coming weeks.

Kevin Henderson, NA and EU Head of Operations and company spokesperson at Pimax VR said: “We are delighted to be working with WEARVR – the largest independent VR app store in the world. I look forward to seeing what the WEARVR community creates using Pimax”

This latest partnership announcement coincides with WEARVR soon to enter the public sale stage of an Initial Coin Offering for Weave, the universal cryptocurrency for VR and AR. WEARVR plans to integrate Weave into the existing centralised app store, a brand-new decentralised store as well as third party distribution channels and crowdfunding content.
