Holographic Theater company Verse Orlando to open new venue with four mixed reality experiences

In General XR News

May 9, 2023 – Holographic Theater company Verse Orlando has this week announced that it will open at the Boxi Park in Orlando, Florida on May 26th. The new venue will feature four mixed reality (MR) experiences, including the immersive experience ‘The Unreal Garden,’ following successful runs in San Francisco, Denver, and Chicago. Guests will also be able to enjoy hours of interactive visuals in what fans of the theater experience have described as: “playing in a dreamscape video game.”

The new holographic theatre location combines live performances with augmented reality (AR) experiences in a dynamic tent system. The immersive augmented reality displays fill the tent with interactive video-game-like worlds and characters while still allowing participants to see and interact with one another.

Enklu is the company behind the technology that Verse Orlando utilizes. Its work with Verse Orlando allows audiences to enjoy unique and immersive entertainment experiences that showcase XR technology and enable guests to step into alternate realities, explore new worlds, and engage with lifelike characters as well as stunning visuals.

Verse Orlando states that its venues are perfect for families, art fans, gamers, and anyone who enjoys immersive experiences. Including artwork by artists Android Jones and Scott Musgrove, the opening follows a milestone of 1 million hours played in Verse Orlando experiences across the US.

Drawing comparisons to Meow Wolf and the Immersive Van Gogh exhibit, the show’s Producer Ray Kallmeyer commented: “This is NOT like the projectors you see blasting screen savers on the walls of empty warehouses, or the virtual reality demos you see in malls that make your aunt sick… Our unique augmented reality displays provide transformative and magical experiences that make you the main character in an evolving story! This is a brand new technology unlike anything you’ve seen before!”

The interactive elements and unique behaviors of mythical animals in ‘The Unreal Garden’ make for a unique immersive experience, according to Verse Orlando.

Although Verse Orlando did not specifically list the exact four mixed reality experiences that it will be showcasing at the new venue in its news release, the shows listed on the company’s website include:

The Unreal Garden – a fully immersive holographic experience divided into multiple acts. Visitors explore surreal landscapes, interact with a variety of animals, and complete puzzles and challenges.

Holographic Odyssey – an immersive augmented reality journey through the solar system. Participants witness the beauty and wonder of each celestial body up close, while being educated with scientific facts.

Sightcraft – a holographic experience that blends magic casting and gamification. Players become wizards in a virtual world with mystical targets, spells, and hidden bonuses. They earn points, climb the leaderboard, and unlock new abilities, becoming more powerful with each level.

Art of the future – guests fully immerse themselves in the people, technology, and stories surrounding the NFT world. Featuring BAYC, Anna Chili, and Zed Run.

Verse Orlando launches at Boxi Park in Lake Nona, Orlando on May 26. For more information on Verse Orlando and its holographic theater productions, or to purchase tickets, please visit the company’s website.
