May 12, 2025 – Niantic has recently announced the global release of ‘Hello, Dot,’ a mixed reality experience designed for Meta Quest 3 and 3S, now available for free. First introduced in early access last year, the application allows users to interact with their Peridot digital companions in a more immersive, spatial computing environment.
Positioned as a “mixed reality toy,” Hello, Dot enables users to engage with their Dot in shared physical space through activities that blend digital interaction with real-world presence. The latest release marks a major update to the experience, with expanded gameplay, customization options, and a reimagined interface centered around an arcade-style machine that appears in the user’s room. Users can then cycle through activities by pulling a lever on the machine.

When it comes to interacting with their Dot, users can do so through a variety of new minigames and features. These include:
- Play Dates for bonding through lighthearted activities
- Dotball, a reflex-based dodgeball-style game
- Eating Contests, adding humor and competition
- In-game rewards, which unlock cosmetic items and accessories for personalization
Players can also use a generative AI-powered customization tool to design unique looks for their Dot. By speaking into a virtual microphone and describing a desired aesthetic (e.g., “a fiery coat” or “starry pattern”) a new appearance is generated in real time using the game’s “magical paintbucket” mechanic.
In a blog post announcing the release, Niantic described the update as part of an ongoing effort to foster deeper emotional connections between users and their digital companions.
Hello, Dot is now available to download for free on the Meta Quest Store for Quest 3 and 3S users.
