January 5, 2024 – XREAL (formerly ‘Nreal’), a provider of consumer augmented reality (AR) glasses, announced this week that it has now shipped 350,000 AR glasses to date. The company added that it anticipates holding nearly 45% of the global AR glasses market share today. If correct, XREAL stated that this would make it the largest player in the AR glasses industry in terms of revenue and shipments, as well as the most popular, best-selling AR brand in the world today.

Along with shipping up to 350,000 AR glasses to date, the XREAL Air series AR glasses are the best-seller on Amazon under the smart glasses category. Furthermore, data from International Data Corporation (IDC) revealed that XREAL commanded a 51% market share of the AR market during Q3 2023. In fact, according to IDC, XREAL’s success actually accounted for 58% of the year-on-year growth in shipments for 2023 seen across the entire consumer AR market.

With these achievements in mind, XREAL stated that they not only underline the success of its AR glasses, but also the increasing momentum of the XREAL spatial computing brand in the growing consumer wearable display market. Additionally, the figures help to reinforce the company’s mission to bring spatial computing to global consumer markets.

Commenting on the numbers, XREAL CEO, Chi Xu, stated: “Today we celebrate a major milestone on our journey to bring AR wearable displays to everyone around the world, revolutionizing how people experience everything from video games to movies and TV, in-car entertainment and displays, and how they work at their desks or on the go.

“Having secured a major foothold in the global wearable display market, XREAL is now in a stronger position to embrace market momentum and reaffirm its position as the leading, best-selling AR glasses and spatial computing brand in the world today, who’s trajectory is outpacing the rest of the industry combined.”

Since the launch of Nreal Light back in 2019 and then later XREAL Air in 2022, the company’s first consumer AR glasses, the XREAL brand has continued to grow, quickly establishing itself as one of the leaders in consumer AR device design and manufacturing. Today, XREAL’s Air 2 and Air 2 Pro devices, which were launched globally in October 2023, offer a lightweight, comfortable, and more affordable device (compared to Apple’s Vision Pro or Meta’s Quest 3) that feature Sony Micro-OLED displays that provide a virtual screen of up to 330-inches.

XREAL’s glasses are also compatible with leading gaming and streaming entertainment devices including Microsoft Xbox, Sony PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Valve Steam Deck, ASUS ROG Ally, iOS and Android devices, PCs, and Macs. The company also noted that it will be bringing its XREAL Air 2 and XREAL Air 2 Pro devices to more countries in 2024.

XREAL will be unveiling its next iteration of spatial computing hardware at CES 2024 in Las Vegas next week, along with more details about its accompanying SDK for developers, which the company stated will “rival the spatial capabilities of Apple’s Vision Pro and Meta’s Quest 3.”

Stay tuned for more updates from XREAL next week, as the company has promised more information from CES 2024. For more information on XREAL and its AR smart glasses devices, please visit the company’s website.
