November 7, 2025 – Snap Inc., a provider of augmented reality (AR) technology and the company behind Snapchat, and Perplexity, an AI-powered answer engine provider, have this week announced a partnership to bring conversational AI search capabilities to Snapchat. The integration will enable Snapchat’s global user base to access Perplexity’s answer engine directly within the app’s Chat interface.
Starting in early 2026, Snapchat users will be able to ask questions and receive conversational answers from Perplexity, with responses sourced from verifiable information. According to Snap, this marks the first large-scale integration of an external AI partner within Snapchat, expanding the AI tools available to the platform’s nearly one billion monthly active users.
Snap stated that with over 943 million monthly active users and more than 75% of 13–34-year-olds in over 25 countries using Snapchat, it offers AI partners an opportunity to connect with its predominantly mobile-native audience “in creative and trusted ways.”

What is Perplexity AI?
Perplexity AI is a conversational search engine that combines large language models (such as those behind ChatGPT) with live web data to provide natural language answers. Unlike traditional search engines that list links, Perplexity delivers concise, cited responses drawn from multiple sources in real time.
According to Snap, the Perplexity integration will support research and exploration within the Snapchat app. It will also complement Snapchat’s existing My AI chatbot, offering an additional resource for users seeking information and topic discovery. The companies stated that messages sent to Perplexity will be used to enhance personalization features on Snapchat.

How Much is Perplexity Investing in Snapchat?
Under the agreement, Perplexity will pay Snap USD $400 million over one year, through a combination of cash and equity, as the integration is rolled out globally. Revenue from the partnership is expected to begin contributing in 2026, according to the companies.
