March 12, 2026Blippar, a provider of augmented reality (AR) and spatial computing solutions, has this week announced the acquisition of Plattar, a 3D product configuration and AR commerce platform with a presence in Australia and New Zealand.

Blippar stated that the acquisition is part of its broader strategy to build a group of industry-specific AR products designed to deliver scalable, commercially impactful solutions across global markets.

Plattar provides a 3D product configuration and AR commerce engine that allows brands to showcase products interactively across digital channels. The company has worked with brands in the retail, property, manufacturing, and e-commerce sectors. According to Blippar, Plattar is a profitable business with an established customer base in its local markets.

Following the transaction, Plattar will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Blippar. The company stated there will be no change to day-to-day operations, teams, or product delivery for existing Plattar customers. Plattar CEO Rupert Deans will continue to lead the business while also contributing at the group level as Blippar scales its AR product portfolio globally.

Plattar’s platform enables teams to build 3D and AR product visualizations, manage digital assets, and publish experiences across web and mobile environments.

“This acquisition is a strategic step forward in our vision for Blippar,” said newly appointed Blippar CEO Phillip Walter. “Plattar brings a highly complementary product and an experienced team that allows us to accelerate our roadmap for industry-focused AR solutions. By combining our platforms and expertise, we’re creating a stronger foundation to serve customers globally with practical, scalable AR that delivers real business value.”

Blippar stated that as a result of the acquisition, Plattar will gain access to a global AR ecosystem, international reach, and advanced artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. The company added that the acquisition follows a period of growth for Blippar, which in the last year has expanded its development capacity with a new engineering office in Bangalore and a new global headquarters in Waterloo, London.

Rupert Deans, CEO of Plattar, added: “Becoming part of Blippar marks an exciting next chapter for Plattar. We remain the same team with the same focus on our customers, but now with the backing, scale and ambition of a global AR platform. This partnership gives us the opportunity to accelerate product development and expand internationally.”
