What’s the story?
Rokid has updated its smart glasses to natively support Google’s Gemini, alongside ChatGPT, DeepSeek, and Qwen, allowing users to toggle between multiple AI models on a single device.
Why it matters
By supporting four different LLMs, Rokid is providing users with a choice of AI compute, moving away from closed ecosystems that bind hardware to a single proprietary AI model.
The bigger picture
Rokid’s open approach to AI integration contrasts with closed systems, as the company prioritizes building inclusive technology platforms for the augmented reality industry.

March 2, 2026 – Rokid, a provider of AI-powered smart eyewear and human–computer interaction solutions, has announced the release of a significant software update for the international version of its Rokid Glasses.
The update integrates four leading large language models—Gemini, OpenAI’s ChatGPT, DeepSeek, and Alibaba’s Qwen—into a unified platform, and makes Rokid the first smart glasses manufacturer to natively support Google’s Gemini on its device, according to the company.
Rokid’s device-to-cloud architecture allows users to toggle between AI models, enabling multimodal interactions and low-latency real-time translation tailored to regional linguistic needs.
Rokid stated that the announcement is more than a routine software update, in that it represents a strategic move in the company’s global expansion. By bridging top-tier AI compute from both U.S. and Chinese developers, Rokid said that it is “breaking down technical barriers across different countries and linguistic contexts, delivering seamlessly localized AI experiences for global users,” as well as accelerating the company’s international market penetration.
Furthermore, Rokid added that the move underscores a broader narrative of China actively embracing and building an open technology ecosystem, from DeepSeek’s open-source release to Rokid’s own inclusive approach in integrating global large language models.
In its announcement, Rokid stated: “Chinese technology players are firmly moving toward openness and win-win cooperation—offering a ‘Chinese solution’ to the world.” The company added, “Rokid is building a unique moat with an open ecosystem. Unlike Meta’s glasses, which follow a closed path by binding exclusively to its proprietary Llama models, Rokid chooses to return true choice to the user.”
According to Rokid, the software rollout comes as it “maintains strong sales momentum,” with the company referencing data from Shangpu Group that tracked AI glasses with display functionality in global markets from November 1, 2024 to October 31, 2025, and which ranked Rokid Glasses at number 1 for global sales volume in the AI glasses with display category.
The company also noted recent success on crowdfunding platforms such as Kickstarter, which Rokid stated it broke the record for any XR device campaign on the platform with its Rokid Glasses, raising over USD $3.6 million from over 5,000 backers in 45 days. Furthermore, the company stated that it also became the fastest glasses product to exceed JPY ¥100 million on Japan’s MAKUAKE platform.
