What’s the story?
Trace launches a no-code AR platform it calls the ‘Canva of AR’.
Why it matters
The no-code platform simplifies AR creation, making it easier for creators and brands to build immersive content.
The bigger picture
With Adobe Aero and Meta Spark AR shut down, Trace could emerge as the new home for immersive content creators.
In Augmented Reality News
November 6, 2025 – Trace, a developer of augmented reality (AR) creation tools, has today announced the launch of its no-code AR platform designed to enable users to create, share, and scale immersive content without coding or advanced design skills. Built by a team of Magic Leap alumni, Trace describes its platform as “the Canva of AR.”
Speaking with Auganix, Trace CEO Greg Tran said the company’s vision is to make the creation of high-end, contextualized AR experiences as accessible as web publishing. “The kind of demos you’d see an ad agency charge $100,000 to produce should be something that can be made within a weekend,” he noted. Tran outlined how Trace’s feature set supports that goal.
What Features Does the Trace AR Platform Offer for No-Code AR Creation?
According to Trace, its platform allows users to design and deploy interactive, location-based AR experiences across mobile devices, headsets, and AR glasses. Featuring a prosumer creation suite, Trace combines high-performance rendering with an intuitive design interface, enabling digital objects to interact contextually with physical spaces.
Trace supports cross-device compatibility, allowing experiences built for mobile devices to scale to mixed-reality headsets and AR glasses. Users can also import existing 3D assets through the platform’s Web Studio.
“For too long, the tools to build in AR have been locked behind technical walls,” said Tran. “We built Trace to finally make AR creation intuitive, fast, and scalable, so anyone can bring ideas into the real world without writing a single line of code.”
A New Alternative to Adobe Aero and Meta Spark AR for AR Creators
Trace’s launch coincides with the discontinuation of Adobe Aero, which is no longer available as of today, and Meta Spark AR, which was shuttered in January this year. In response to the loss of these two major AR creation platforms, Trace stated that it is offering three free months of its premium plan to creators migrating from these platforms.
“Even as XR devices become more capable, the creator ecosystem is still really limited,” said Martin Smith, Trace’s CTO and co-founder. “Empowering creators to build and share their vision is such an important part of the picture, whether they’re an educator, an artist, or a Fortune 500 brand. Trace runs anywhere, scales instantly, and supports the fidelity AR deserves.”
Who Can Use Trace’s AR Creation Platform?
The company noted that it aims to provide a sustainable ecosystem for creators and organizations. Early enterprise adopters already include T-Mobile, Qualcomm, Telefónica, Lenovo, and Deutsche Telekom, who have used Trace for applications such as brand activations, retail experiences, trade show installations, and employee training.
Trace’s technology has also been used at events such as Mobile World Congress and the Hip Hop 50 Summit, according to the company, which is positioning the platform as an independent authoring tool focused on AR. Tran described the platform through the lens of a website-for-a-place analogy, emphasizing Trace’s role in enabling creators to design interactive, location-based experiences.
Trace AR Platform Pricing, Availability, and How to Get Started
Trace’s creation platform is available for free download on iPhone and iPad via the App Store, with a premium subscription starting at USD $20 per month. The Trace Viewer app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, and the Web Studio can be accessed at studio.trace3d.app.
