June 26, 2025 – HTC Corporation, the company behind the HTC VIVE virtual reality product line, has this week announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com), a Japanese provider of ICT solutions, to support the growth of large-scale location-based entertainment (LBE) experiences across Japan.
LBE experiences incorporate XR headsets into physical environments, allowing multiple users to enjoy shared virtual content in real-world venues. For venue operators, HTC noted that its deployment model is designed for fast installation without major renovations, offering greater flexibility and more efficient use of space.
According to the companies, the collaboration will combine HTC’s LBE platform technology with NTT Com’s expertise in smart venue infrastructure and networking. The aim is to develop scalable immersive experiences that can be deployed in existing sports and concert venues, particularly during off-peak periods.

HTC has previously deployed immersive cultural exhibitions internationally, including:
- Eternal Notre-Dame, a reconstruction of the historic Notre-Dame cathedral;
- Versailles: The Lost Garden of the Sun King, an experience set in French royal gardens;
- La Magie Opéra, an XR showcase at the Paris Opera.
The company’s system supports multi-user interaction in environments up to 1,000 square meters in size, and can be adapted for training, exhibitions, performing arts, and tourism.
To expand the scope and depth of their immersive content offerings, HTC and NTT Com stated they plan to explore content partnerships with Japanese intellectual property holders in gaming and anime, as well as local governments and cultural institutions.
NTT Com also plans to integrate technologies such as IOWN (Innovative Optical and Wireless Network), IoT systems, and tactile communication tools to support real-time, multi-site interaction for future LBE deployments.
