In Virtual Reality News

February 17, 2021 – Manus, an immersive technology developer specialized in high-fidelity finger tracking for motion capture and virtual reality (VR), has today announced the Manus Pro Tracker, the company’s first professional SteamVR tracker designed specifically for motion capture (Mocap), virtual production and full-body VR.

Commenting on the announcement, Bart Loosman, CEO at Manus, said: “After years of using SteamVR Tracking, we are excited to launch our own SteamVR enabled product. We have been amazed by the accuracy and ease-of-use of this tracking solution for a long time. As one of the very first companies in the world to get access to the SteamVR technology, we hope to improve the workflow of creative professionals around the world with our very own professional tracker.”

According to the company, the Manus Pro Tracker features “the most sensors in any SteamVR tracker available” and uses the latest sensor hardware, resulting in more reliable SteamVR data. Whether the tracker is used for motion capture, virtual production, or virtual reality, Manus states that it is “the most accurate SteamVR tracker available.”

The Manus Pro Tracker features USB-C for wired use or for easy charging for wireless use that offers up to 4½ hours of real-world battery life. Fully charging the tracker takes just over an hour. The device also comes with an interchangeable battery that can be replaced in seconds, and the option of an additional charger helps to further reduce down-time and allows users to stay productive for as long as they need.

The tracker weighs just 62 grams, which Manus states makes it 44% lighter compared to other available alternatives and helps to improve both comfort and stability. An integrated universal mounting adapter also enables easy attachment of the Manus Pro Tracker on Manus Prime II series motion capture and VR gloves. Additionally, Manus offers an optional professional strap-set, which provides users with a more stable and universal solution for wearing professional SteamVR trackers on the body. Finally, the tracker and strap-set combined are designed to work well with Polygon, Manus’ full-body inverse-kinematics solution.

Pre-orders for the Manus Pro Tracker start today and cost EUR €299 from the company’s website with shipments expected in Q2 2021. For more information on Manus and its tracking solutions for VR, motion capture and virtual production, click here.
