Moth+Flame partners with SHRM announces new Virtual Reality immersive learning marketplace for corporate training

June 23, 2022 – Moth+Flame, a developer of virtual reality (VR) and immersive training technology, has announced that it has created its first enterprise-grade immersive learning marketplace for corporate training, allowing companies to leverage essential training in an immersive and engaging format via an IPad or VR headset. Moth+Flame has partnered with The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) to offer the training series, where the company will transition SHRM’s traditional learning topics into a more engaging and immersive format.

‘Having Difficult Conversations’ is the title of the first immersive SHRM learning experience, which has been designed to help people leaders raise sensitive issues with their employees. In the experience, learners are placed in a common workplace scenario where they must navigate a complex workplace conversation about an employee returning to work from medical leave by applying empathetic listening techniques.

By practicing having conversations in VR, users can learn how to respond in real life with the confidence to act on the material learned. Through the VR simulation, learners are placed in a safe space to practice some challenging but necessary conversations. Based on the book ‘Talking Taboo: Making the Most of Polarizing Discussions at Work,’ which was written by SHRM Chief Knowledge Officer Alex Alonso, Ph.D., SHRM-SCP, the VR learning experience applies the ‘Me+We+WO+RK’ framework to foster greater inclusion in occupational environments, according to Moth+Flame.

“SHRM is committed to equity and inclusion in the broadest sense of the word. Taboo Talk introduces the Me+We+WO+RK framework to help managers navigate tricky conversations to promote a sense of belonging and inclusion,” said Alonso. “This new program brings the framework to life by allowing learners to practice using the framework to solve issues commonly associated with complex or troubling workplace conversations.”

Moth+Flame’s platform offers experiential solutions with state-of-the-art cinematography and life-like virtual environments integrated with conversational NLP and photorealistic characters. Experiences on the Moth+Flame platform fully immerse learners into a reenactment scenario mirroring realistic workplace challenges.

The SHRM learning experience leverages AI that accurately captures and interprets the learner’s communication style, enabling a more effective measurement of empathetic behavior.
