September 8, 2026 – SimX, a provider of immersive virtual reality (VR) simulation for healthcare education and training, has recently announced the launch of two new autonomous nursing curricula: the Nursing Essentials Series and the Nursing Workforce Readiness Series.
The two curricula consist of VR simulations for nursing students, built on SimX’s platform. According to the company, the curricula use “Autonomous Simulation” to allow students to complete the simulations independently, without requiring instructor moderation. Learners launch scenarios directly from a VR headset, interact with artificial intelligence (AI)-powered patients and care teams using speech, and receive automated performance feedback upon completion.
SimX added that every scenario is built around clinician-authored content and validated character responses, and that programs benefit from standardized training, automated performance tracking, and expanded simulation capacity without additional staffing. Additionally, learners can repeatedly practice both everyday clinical interventions and complex, high-acuity patient encounters.
The company stated that as nursing programs face increasing enrollment, limited clinical placements, and growing pressure to graduate practice-ready nurses, the new curricula provide repeatable learning experiences that extend simulation beyond scheduled lab time and are designed to strengthen clinical skills, judgment, and leadership.

“For many learners, developing clinical competency requires space to experiment, reflect, and repeat, which has historically been limited by faculty bandwidth, physical space, materials, and scheduling,” said Jenn Ogier, a Clinical Education Manager at SimX. “These new autonomous nursing curricula and educator-developed resources were built to support diverse learner needs as students grow and transition into dynamic healthcare roles.”
Designed to develop proficiency in foundational nursing skills, the Nursing Essentials Series includes patient assessment, medication administration, infection control, and patient-centered care. The Nursing Workforce Readiness Series prepares learners for the transition to professional practice through complex patient scenarios that require prioritization, delegation, interprofessional communication, and advanced clinical decision-making. SimX stated that together, the two series form a pathway from foundational nursing competency to workforce readiness. Both series are now available to institutions using SimX VR.
