In Virtual Reality News

September 12, 2023 – DPVR, a Shanghai-based manufacturer of virtual reality (VR) headsets, has unveiled its latest VR headset today with the launch of the ‘DPVR P2,’ which the company states is aimed at educators, innovative EdTech providers, and forward-thinking enterprises worldwide.

Marathon Kit: the P2’s power configuration pack tailored for businesses

DPVR stated that users of virtual reality have historically voiced concerns over power sustainability and battery longevity of VR devices, with some users even resorting to third-party modifications to extend operational hours in an effort to ensure more consistent VR headset functionality.

In order to address these issues, DPVR has unveiled its ‘Marathon Kit’ – a power configuration setup that offers the following accessories:

  1. Replaceable 5700mAh backup battery
  2. Dedicated charging dock
  3. DC Supply

DPVR stated that the Marathon Kit assures users a seamless and more enduring power experience, and that it is designed to cater to a wide range of power needs, from a variety of sectors, including education and training, senior care, VR wellness, and VR gaming and arcades.

Fortified data security with file encryption

To address the security of data assets for businesses, the DPVR P2 features data encryption capabilities. Once encrypted, files can only be accessed and decrypted by authorized DPVR devices, ensuring unparalleled protection for corporate data, schools and institutions, which will be able to harness the functionality in order to create safe and private VR environments.

Ergonomic design for enhanced comfort and versatility

The P2 device is designed with a front-back balanced weight distribution. The headset’s ergonomic design seamlessly distributes weight, enhancing the overall wearing experience, according to DPVR. Tailored to cater to a diverse range of applications, the P2 features an adjustable strap that is designed to fit both adults and children, ensuring a snug fit for varied head sizes. Furthermore, the inclusion of a three-level physical Interpupillary Distance (IPD) adjustment allows users to adjust lens spacing in order to achieve optimal visual clarity.

Stereo sound with active noise cancellation

The P2’s TWS earbuds accessory comes with active noise cancellation technology, capable of reducing up to 80% of ambient noise, significantly amplifying the immersive potential for audio-based learning experiences, according to DPVR. The P2’s built-in speakers have also been enhanced to deliver a 50% boost in bass performance, adding depth and richness to audio content.

Customizable with business-focused features

Following in the footsteps of its P1 predecessor, the DPVR P2 has introduced an array of customizable features. On the hardware front, customers can personalize the logo, packaging, and color to meet their own business needs, essentially providing businesses with a white-label VR headset solution. DPVR noted that the minimum order quantity for customization of the P2 starts at 100 units. In terms of software, the P2 offers customizable options for the Launcher, Unity, Framework, and SDK.

“DPVR P2 embodies our relentless pursuit of advancing the educational landscape through technological innovation,” said Derek Liu, VP of DPVR. “With a suite of features designed to empower educators and learners, DPVR P2 is set to reshape how we engage with knowledge. This launch marks a pivotal moment in education and training, and we eagerly anticipate the transformative impact it will have.”
