March 4, 2020 – Assam Electronics Development Corporation Limited (AMTRON) and EON Reality, a provider of Augmented and Virtual Reality-based knowledge and skills transfer for industry and education, have announced a partnership to launch an Augmented and Virtual Reality Center in India.

Located in the city Guwahati within the state of Assam, the Center is aimed at providing effective AR and VR enterprise and academic solutions to train the next generation of students and upskill workers within the area’s oil and gas industry.

As a part of the national Digital India initiative focused on artificial intelligence and quantum computing, a key focus of the Center will be to uplift at least 5,000 students and 300 teachers into what EON Reality calls the ‘Classroom 3.0’ movement each year. In this regard, the VR Innovation Academy will be a key portion of the new Center, and will provide the area with the knowledge to create their own industry-standard AR and VR solutions going forward.

Dan Lejerskar, Founder of EON Reality, commented: “We are very excited when we look at the theme of Digital India, as it’s all about uplifting and developing the skills of a very populous area. EON Reality has always been focused on creating a better society through better employment and better education. For a nation like India where education plays a very important role in the family, I feel as though we can truly make a difference by delivering AR and VR solutions to improve both education and industry in the area.”

Through the partnership with AMTRON — which serves as a branch between the government and industrial sectors of Assam — the new center will also give the state access to EON Reality’s AR and VR library in addition to the training and custom solutions. Due to the size and topography of Assam, EON Reality anticipates that the immersive AR and VR education solutions will help make it easier for students to get a world-class education without traveling great distances to attend school.
