Rezzil debuts ‘Rezzil Player 21’ consumer version of its Virtual Reality football training platform

November 3, 2020 – Rezzil, a provider of virtual reality (VR) training and cognitive tools for football (soccer) players has today announced the debut of its home consumer version ‘Rezzil Player 21’. Initially available on HTC Vive and Valve index, Rezzil Player 21 has been built with Rezzil’s VR simulation technology, which the company states is used to train elite players at professional football clubs around the globe.

Backed by ex-football professionals, including former Manchester City player and current Anderlecht player-manager Vincent Kompany, Rezzil Player 21 puts players in the football boots of elite players with ‘real world’ drills and challenges developed in conjunction with sports coaches and physiotherapists. Manchester United, PSG and Arsenal are just a few of the professional-level football clubs that have installed Rezzil in their facilities to train their first-team players, as well as their youth academy players, according to Rezzil. The company added that its training platform is also being used by current World Cup holders the French Football Federation, US Soccer, The English FA, along with  many more global federations to train the next generation of talent and to keep their skills sharp during the current pandemic.

Rezzil Player 21 challenges players with training drills that mirror how professional players train in real life, instead allowing users to interact with a virtual ball. The platform analyzes players’ shooting skills and movement patterns to create a series of detailed data points and stats from a training session. Users also have the option for this data to be uploaded to global leaderboards, which according to Rezzil, could potentially provide an avenue for them to be discovered by real football scouts from across the world.

“Rezzil has proven to be an essential training tool for many of the world’s top football clubs, and we’re delighted to be offering people at home the chance to play like the pros with Rezzil Player 21,” said Andy Etches, Sports Director of Rezzil. “We’re very aware that the current pandemic has really affected both pro and amateur players and so Rezzil is a great way to help keep their fine footballing skills in focus. The optional ability for home players to upload their stats and have real scouts poring over the data in their hunt for the superstars of tomorrow also adds an exciting extra dimension to the home experience.”

Commenting on the platform, Vincent Kompany said: “Being at the top of your game is a must for professional footballers and Rezzil’s training and drills deliver elite-level training in a fun and competitive way, pushing both mind and body.”

Rezzil Player 21 Features:

  • Allows users to train and play with the same VR simulation technology that Rezzil offers to professional teams to help coach elite football athletes around the world;
  • Free ‘Finishing Challenge’ with 3-time limits – 30, 60 or 90 seconds;
  • Free ‘Endless’ mode that lets users take on the Finishing Challenge at their own pace or a more casual practice session;
  • In-app purchase of credits to unlock Adidas products in-game, including footballs and boots.

Rezzil Player 21 is currently available for free on Steam and is compatible with HTC Vive and Valve Index headsets and requires VIVE Trackers and straps. The company has stated that it plans to release its VR football training solution on other VR platforms in the future, as well as release DLC and an arcade version.
