Xbox Wireless Controller support comes to Samsung Gear VR

September 23, 2016 – Microsoft’s Xbox announced last month the expansion of the Xbox Wireless ecosystem across Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs. Also announced was that the new Xbox Wireless Controller will soon be compatible with controller-enabled games on Samsung Gear VR, starting with Minecraft: Gear VR Edition.

In addition, broader support across all Gear VR controller-enabled titles like Herobound, Spirit Champion, Omega Agent, and End Space will be available in the coming months.

With Minecraft: Gear VR Edition, players can get right inside the world of Minecraft and build, explore and battle mobs – all with a fresh perspective. Following a game update in October to supported Android devices*, the new Xbox Wireless Controllers can be paired to work directly through Gear VR devices for use with Minecraft: Gear VR Edition.

Beyond Minecraft: Gear VR Edition, Microsoft have stated that it is working to make the Xbox Wireless Controller compatible with all controller-supported Gear VR games and future games too.  Once available, users will need to update their controllers, and will then be ready to play.

*Supported phones: Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy s6 edge+, Galaxy S6, or Galaxy S6 edge.
